Roots in Bangladesh

Bangladesh has been a centre of textile production for over two thousand years. The region's muslin was prized by emperors and aristocrats across Asia and Europe — a fabric so fine it was said to dissolve in water. This legacy of craft is woven into the country's identity, and it is the foundation of everything Newman creates.

Our Approach

We work directly with master weavers, dyers, and tailors across Bangladesh — in Dhaka, Rajshahi, and the historic weaving villages of Tangail. Each piece is produced in small batches, with an emphasis on material quality, fit, and finishing that meets the standards of international luxury.

Materials

We source the finest cotton, linen, and silk from within the region. Our signature fabric is a heavyweight cotton sateen woven on traditional looms in northern Bangladesh — substantial, breathable, and developed exclusively for Newman over three years of collaboration with a family-run mill.

Design Philosophy

Newman garments are designed to be worn for years, not seasons. Silhouettes are clean and considered. Details — a hand-finished buttonhole, a reinforced seam, a precisely placed pocket — are never decorative for their own sake. Every element serves the garment's longevity and the wearer's comfort.
